Why am I not hearing the directions out loud?

I can see the map's site but cannot hear the directions.

Settings>>Maps>> select an option other than "no voice"

In addition, if you're in your vehicle, you 'may' have to select its 'media' option in order to hear the directions over your vehicle's speakers.
