Why does iTunes match prevent music transfers from my MacPro to iPhone?

After signing up for the new Apple Music and joining a family plan, I can no longer transfer music files from my MacPro onto my phone because iTunes Match is enabled. If I turn off iCloud music altogether I can add the files which also takes away my Apple Music subscription.Any ideas?

If you add something in iTunes, then tell Match to update your library, the item(s) should show up on your device(s) - and you can download on the device...
