Why won't my calendar app let me add events?

I'm a busy person with a busy schedule these days. But instead of asking Siri to enter things like events on my calendar, I like to do it so I remember it a little easier by manually entering it.
Every time I launch the app,The plus icon at the top right on my screen is gray, and will do nothing when I click on a day and a specific time.
Like I have said I'm very busy and don't have the time and storage to take pictures of my day on my actual calendar and glance at it on the go. Please help.

Try turning calendar off and then on again in Settings. Also, you might attempted a forced restart?
