With Apple Music will I be able to do a local download to an iPod Nano?

I'm just about to join up on Apple music and heard your excellent podcast. My wife is a gym rat and loves music but is also petite so for her the best Apple music device is the Nano. I want to provide new music options for her and was wondering if let's say she found a playlist she liked if that can go first to into iTunes and then when she synced the iPod it would transfer over? Thanks! Love your podcasts!
