Why do all my songs skip in itunes?

At some point in the past year, my songs all began skipping (going back and forth a few seconds at a time and will sometimes skip to the next song altogether). I'm not sure why, and it happens on both my macbook and my iphone. This was all music that I had downloaded from the internet, but it was working fine for years and then suddenly started skipping. Any ideas why this might happen? Will I need to delete all my music? (Please tell me there's an alternative)

Good question, but one that I don't have an answer for. Minus corruption of some sort, I don't know why that would be happening. Hopefully, members who have similar experiences will reply soon.

It's odd it happens on both the phone and computer. Is iTunes up to date?
