How does "Optimize iPhone Storage" setting impact Google Photo?

iMore Question

I want to use both Apple iCloud Photo Library and the new Google Photo. I have a concern with using both. On my iPhone, I have turned on the "Optimize iPhone Storage" option.

Initially, photos I take on my iPhone will be stored on the phone in full-resolution and will be uploaded to Google Photo Cloud in full-resolution. Eventually when my iPhone runs low on space, the resolution of photos on my iPhone will be reduced to "Optimized Versions". When this happens, will the Google Photo App sense the photo has changed, upload the changed photo the Google Photo Cloud and replace the original full-resolution photo (or created a duplicate photo)?

Pics sent to iCloud and Google *should* retain the original resolution. Only the photos stored on the device will be optimized for storage purposes.
