Why won't my phone ring when people try to contacts me?

I broke my iPhone 5 and until my upgrade I'm using my old iPhone 4. People have been trying to contact me but the phone doesn't ring and I get no notification of a missed call. The caller however can hear the phone ringing and they just assume I'm not picking up

Are you able to make outgoing calls with the phone? Have you verified the notification/phone settings?

1. Check the mute switch on the side of the device.
2. Make sure the Do Not Disturb feature is disabled.
3. Check the volume level.
4. Make sure you are connected to your wireless carrier's network.
