Can schools monitor iMessages on their iPads?

My friend and I were iMessaging. He was on his school iPad and I was on my phone. His school has a couple profiles on the device. Are there any technologies / profiles in which the school can monitor iMessages ? He wasn't on school wifi either.

I'm not sure, but you should ALWAYS assume that devices belonging to an institution are monitored and that all associated communications are NOT private.

Better... Never put anything in an email or text message you wouldn't want to explain to a jury from a witness box...

More than likely, they would use some type of pre-installed monitoring software.

They have apps for that. But the device being monitored needs the app to work. The old hidden app trick.
