Just updated my iPad/iPhone 5 to iOS 8.3. Why can't I select backup now?

After I upgraded I went to settings< icloud.. yet there is no option to perform back up
Do I have to upgrade to icloud drive? I don't want to lose my videos or pics of my child? please help

Reboot the device and then make sure iCloud is configured. Afterwards, go to Settings - iCloud - Backup, and then turn on "iCloud Backup". After that, you should be able to make an iCloud backup.
