Mail received in iPhone can be deleted in Spotlight but mail sent by iPhone cannot be deleted in Spotlight. However, mail sent by other device such as a Mac, can be deleted in iPhone Spotlight. Regardless of latest iOS update or iPhone model. Apple aware of this software issue.
