Which email providers are best?

I have a MacBook Pro from 5 years back. ICloud has been coming on strong - I.e. numerous requests (aka excessive demands). Anyway, in attempting to satisfy a particularly recent such demand - I will create a new, secondary email account.
What I wish to ask of you today is: which email service providers do you have the most good - or least bad opinions?

At this time, I am utilizing Google's email product (gmail)
