How to duplicate a photo for editing in Camera Roll?

I must be missing something, but is there a way to duplicate (for editing) a photo in Camera Roll?

Point being being I want to keep the original photo, but also create an edited version too.

I see a Copy option in the Sharing menu, but there doesn't seem to be a corresponding Paste anywhere.

Photo editing in the Camera Roll/Photos app is non-destructive. Meaning you can always revert back to the original copy no matter how many edits you make. You can tap "revert" while editing to go back to the original, or simply tap the screen to toggle back and forth between the original and your edited version.

If you actually need a copy of the photo to have both the original and edited version side-by-side, the easiest way would be to use an editing app rather than the built in camera roll. Snapseed is what I tend to use, but there are dozens of really good apps that will do the same.
