Why am I having trouble doing the touch ID for my iphone 6?

I have tried to do it several times, following the instructions every time. right now I still have the screen protector on it as it came from T mobile. Could that be affecting the ability for it to read my print? I do it a few times, then it says it could not identify my print. I was waiting to take the film off til I get in my screen protector.

The film is definitely interfering. I've been using Touch ID since it was launched on the 5S & it works perfectly.
