Why won't my iPhone sync with iTunes or even charge after updating iTunes?

Iphone wont sync with itunes or even charge after updating itunes.

So i just updated my itunes to the latest version and now it wont even recognize i have a device plugged in! it does not charge it either but does make a little noise when i plug it in. There is no tab that has my phone nothing. I have previously used this USB cord before and a little window would pop up and start syncing all my pictures etc. I have not had a problem until updating my itunes. I am looking to do this all manually i do not want any wifi sync or icloud. Please help! Thanks!

When did you last reboot your computer? Try that if not done since you installed iTunes.
