Why doesn't iTunes on my iMac recognize my iPad?

iTunes on my iMac does not recognise my iPad.

I want to copy photos from my iMac to my iPad. in the past this has worked fine through iTunes, but since updating the operating system on my iPad, iTunes does not recognise the iPad, so Sync functions are not available. Help please. Tony

Reboot the device and the computer, reattached the device via USB, and try again.

I have re-booted my iPad and my iMac twice, but still iTunes does not recognise my iPad, so cannot sync photos. Any more suggestions please?

Have you tried a different cable? It could be a problem with the current cable you're using
