Why isn't my iPad charging?

My I pad won't charge. It says not charging when plugged in.

I've tried to restore by holding the home button and the on/off buttons together till Apple icon appears but it doesn't help.

Using the Apple supplied charger & cable? If not - try that... otherwise, you'll need to look into diagnosis of the issue and service - from an AppleStore, Authorized service center, or 3rd party repair service.
