Why isn't the iCloud icon showing up on my up-to-date Mac?

The ICloud icon does not show up in my up-to-date Mac

I have Yosemite 10.6.8 loaded on my Mac (yes I double checked). I do have an iCloud account. I can send things or have them backed up on our other Mac devices (two iphones, three ipads), However, I have no ICloud icon on my Mac. It is not in System Preferences, Favorites, Finder. Please help!
