Why am I not receiving notifications like the iPhone and iPad receive

How come the iPod touch receive notifications that both the iPhone and the iPad receive and both the iPhone and the iPod are the same price. There's a lot that I think isn't fair that iPhones and iPads receive that the iPods don't receive
