Backing up photos from iphone into icloud

My iphone is almost full and I would like to backup my photos and videos into my expanded icloud drive and keep using my iphone to take more pictures

Sorry it doesn't work that way- iCloud doesn't expand your phones memory- it only backs up the stuff that you keep on there. Can you transfer to a computer or dropbox account?
