How do I delete pic's or videos if the trash can is grayed out?

Can't delete pic's or videos

While in Moments and then Select a group of pics or videos the trash can is grated out and I can't dispose of them? Why does the trash can gray out?

If any of the videos of photos you selected were transferred to the device via iTunes, you won't be able to delete them via the phone.
