Why doesn't my iPhone 6 alert me when an instant messages comes in?

Why doesn't my iPhone 6 not alert me when instant messages come in

I have tried several different ways to correct this, suggestions found on the Apple forum, but none have worked.

My silence button is not turned on.

I've checked my Message settings and they are correct.

Notifications for messages is turned on.

Do Not Disturb settings are not on.

And yet, I am not alerted when a new message arrives, whether my phone is locked or not. No ring tone, not even a vibration, which is a normal setting for me. I tried to reset all my settings but could not find where to do that. Phone is brand new, bought it yesterday, iPhone 6 64gb. Have never experienced this problem on any previous iPhone devices.

Incoming calls ring just fine whether my phone is locked or not.

Can someone help me?

What app are you using? Is there a setting within the app?

To reset setting into general and scroll to the bottom of the page to reset.

Go to Settings - Sounds and then at the top, make sure the toggle button for "Vibrate on Ring" is enabled. Afterwards, scroll down to "Text Tone" and make sure that a text tone is selected.
