How do I go back to mail after being redirected?

Upon opening, say, a shopping catalogue, I'm redirected thru safari. To get back to email I press the home button, and reopen mail. Is this the only way? My old Samsung tablet had a 'back' button, unless I haven't found it yet (?!) Apple does not. This is not a hardship for me, I'm just curious! Thanks!

There's no "back button" on an iPhone.

You can press the Home button twice to open the Application Switcher and select your email from there.

Or you can press the Home button once and navigate to the Mail icon.
