Your instructions for moving iTunes to an external drive to free up space on the internal drive were very clear and helpful. My follow up question is the following: am I correct in assuming that having iTunes on an external drive only is still compatible with maintaining a copy of the files in the cloud using iTunes Match?

iCloud doesn't really care where on your computer iTunes stores stuff... Match only looks at if you have it in your library, and matches it to what's on iTunes' database, and then gives you access to the same files on iTunes servers.
