why does my iphone 5 drop calls when using the earphones?

It will drop the call if i move the phone at all; most times it will start playing music after dropping the call

There could be an issue with the earphone cable... if they're older, maybe not particularly well cared for... there could be a short that when the cord moves, the iOS sees a button press and the call drops and music starts... I'd start by trying a different set of earbuds.
