Why does it state that the backup is incomplete?

I had to get a new iPhone because the battery in my old one failed. Under Manage Storage my phone says the latest backup was incomplete for 6.3 MB. I want to get my pictures and contacts back. How can I fix it?

Do you still have your old phone? I would plug the old phone into itunes and back it up and then wipe the new one and restore it from the back up-
