How do I get my number out of my dad's iMessage options?

I just bought a new iPhone 6 and as soon as I turned on iMessage, my dad got a notification saying he was opening up a new imessage of a new iPhone (mine). And in his message settings, he has an option that is titled "text message fowarding" and under that there's my number. I'm wondering how to get my number off of his phone so he can't see my messages?

This happens if both devices are using the same Apple ID. The only way to get rid of the number is to use your own Apple ID.

How do I do that without losing everything I already have on my phone. Along with all the music I share with my parents?

Have your dad setup family sharing & you'll still have access to the music and apps on his Apple ID.
