Iphone wont power on after battery change?

I have an iphone 5 and i replaced the battery now it wont power on! itunes recognizes it though! Did i make a mistake by not removing the screen before removing the battery? would that cause the screen to short out? also when plugged in the iphone doesnt make the initial vibration!
