How to get into disabled second hand iPhone 5c?

I bought this phone from a person who I can not contact again and who knows nothing about it's history. Shortly after getting the phone, it became disabled. I figure it was probably by a previous user who lost it and the person who sold it to me likely found it and sold it to me before the owner could disable it. Anyway, now it is disabled and when I turn it on, it says "iPhone is disabled. try again in 23,520,990 minutes" and I can slide to get to emergency call, but can do nothing else except for turn it on and off. I have never had an apple device before, and have never even used iTunes before. is there ANY way I can get into the phone without knowing it's history or having any information from it's previous owner? Please help me!
