Why ia there a red 1 on my settings icon on my I Phone 5S?

I have tried to figure out what could be on there on my own with no luck, turning the phone off and on, etc. I have no notifications. There is nothing showing what the red 1 is trying to tell me.

There's an update pending... open settings... go to software update... if nothing there... try about... if there's a carrier settings update, you'll get it that way...
