How do I re-log myself into iMessage on my MacBook Air (Mavericks)?

Trying to re-log myself into iMessage on my MacBook Air (Mavericks)

I restored my operating system and upon asking me to use iMessage i hit cancel and not not log into it and it says it's inactive and offline. Please help

Open the Messages App - go to Preferences in the menu... and go to the Accounts section... add or modify the account associated with your AppleID.
