Can I use Time Machine to backup the files on an SD card in a Macbook Air?

I am using an SD card (64GB) on a macbook Air as additional storage to some my iPhoto library. It works fine, a little slow, but acceptable. I could manually backup the iPhoto Library to an ext HDD, however I would prefer the automatic backup procedure using Time machine. Is that possible?

TimeMachine backs up anything that's mounted on the desktop as a drive unless you exclude it in TimeMachine settings.

Yes it works now. I had to reformat the SDcard to 'MacOS extended'
