How do I send text messages to my contacts who do not use an iPhone or iPad now that I have iMessage?

help me be able to send text messages to my husband who does no.t havean iPhone!

Settings>> Messages>> Send as SMS -- Switch to ON.

If this is your first iPhone, the messages should automatically switch to SMS if the other person does not have an iPhone. Otherwise do like kch said.
