How to erase a previous owners email account from the iTunes log in. On a 2G I pod thanks

Bought this I pod for my hubby to listen to music. The ITunes log in has the previous owners email address. Do I have to erase all setting on the iPod to get rid of this or is there another way. Thanks

Go into settings and log-out of the iTunes Store section of the settings... Erasing settings is an option as well.
