Will it scratch a phone that's not in a case?

What's not clear from the photos I've seen of the Twelve South HiRise is whether the taller support pedestal that goes behind the phone or iPad has some kind of protective coating on it so that you don't have metal to metal contact between your device and the stand, which I would expect to scratch up the device (and the stand) over time.

It seems like there's a little rubber cap on the top that may act as a sort of bumper, but I could still see the phone rubbing against the support as you attach or detach it.

Can you shed any light?

put a case would be better!

Some skin such as sanaponicia is very thin. Just feel like without a case.
