Don't understand how to delete certain photos ?

I can't delete photos. I read the how to and it sounds too complicated I want to just hit delete ! How to get rid of unimportant photos????
And I loose photos in these collections and albums. I just want photos in chronological order. How can I delete and get rid of this other collections and albums?? Thx
