Why won't my new iPod Touch open the App Store app?

My brand new ipod touch wont open the App Store app.

Just brought new ipod touch 2hrs ago and it won't let me connect to App store. I've definately got WiFi, I've re-booted modem, updated ios and restarted ipod. It just flashes on to page then says 'Cannot connect to App Store" Any help??

where did you purchase the iPod? Are you able to surf the web?
