i still have an Ipad 1 and would like to wipe it clean, is this possible and how do I do it?

My Ipad 1 crashes all the time and I thought if I cleaned it it might help.

Is it possible to do so from Settings \ General \ Reset?
Failing that, what about via iTunes?
