Why do purchased songs not selected to download to iPhone appear on iPhone anyway?

There are lots of songs I have not selected to be on my iphone 5S but show up anyway and do not give an option to delete them. I have deleted all other music that I selected from the phone and a bunch of songs I have not selected remain, they were in the cloud but I de-selected that option from the music management in settings and the cloud icon disappeared but the songs remained and won't be deleted either. The delete option when swiping to the left does not appear for any for them either.

Please can you tell me how I can stop this from occurring? How to delete the songs and prevent them from reloading onto my phone.

Settings>> iTunes & App Store>> turn off "Show All" for music so that only things synced to your phone will show up.
