Can I trade my iphone 4 for an iPhone 5c at my local apple store without paying anything but taxes? Some please explain

That's like asking if you could trade in a car and get the newer model for taxes only. They'll give you some credit for it but you'll still have to pay the value of the new product.

Trade up for a certain amount of money, then you pay the balance of the new device. This guy is asking if he can trade his iPhone 4 for a 5C and pay nothing but taxes.
