My 1 day old iPhone 6 has downloaded 1500 old emails and won't stop.

I can remove them but just get a load more older ones. I am on windows 7 pop. I have an I pad air which I have been using for a year it is up to date with 8.1.1 and that's ok it only happens on the new phone. Does anyone have the cure please?

Make sure you didn't ask it to sync for a long period of time.

This happened to me. Your messages are likely still on the server, & for some reason after it gets so many messages it delivers them to the phone again. So...
1. In your mail settings on your phone, make sure you are deleting messages from the server when you delete them from your phone.
2. On the actual mail website, go to your e-mail & delete old messages.
This worked for me.
