Has Apple removed the iPhoto service?

iPhoto obsolete

Why have apple removed the iPhoto service. The beauty of iPhoto was the ability to produce wonderful photo books easily. There was no warning or information given prior to the iOS 8 update of the services that you would lose. I am extremely disappointed as I had 2 books ready for print. Typical of Apple not to relay this info and to simply remove the service ... NOT HAPPY
