How much battery loss can I expect with the iphone on standby while I sleep?

iMore Question

I was thinking about getting an iphone 6 which would be my first iphone (first Apple product ever for me), but had some questions.
Right now I have an Android and am having a bit of an issue with apps running in the background while the phone is on standby and its eating up the battery. Is this much of an issue with an iphone especially if I start to download a lot of apps? How much battery loss can I expect with the iphone on standby while I sleep?
Also how hot does the iphone get? I'm starting to cringe when I see phones with almost 3Ghz quad core processors and 3GB or RAM and wonder how in the world they get rid of the heat generated.
These are some of the issues that make me want to try an iphone. I just want to be sure if I'm going to spend $750 for an iphone 6 64GB that its something I'd really enjoy.

I lose about 20% battery overnight on my iPhone. Depending on what apps you are using, if your screen brightness is turned up, etc. can all affect battery life. My iPhone doesn't get really hot but I don't have one of the new ones either. I love my iPhone and I think its a great phone. I think you would like it.

I lose about 6-10% over night on my 5S over about 7-8 hours on 3G only.

When my iPhone 5 was new, I lost maybe 1% overnight. Now, 15 months later and on iOS 8, I lose about 10 % overnight. For me that's about 5 hours.

How could you get your phone to show you that you only lost 1%? my iPhone's battery meter looks like it goes down in like 10% increments.

I'm not sure if you can on the 3G, but on the newer phones you can see your battery percentage in #'s. On the 6 plus it's here.

I went to bed last night at 12 and woke up at 730, and my 6+ was unplugged at 1130 last night. My phone was at 99% when I got up.

That is consistent every night, even on my 5S, I lose 1-2% at most.
