Why is my phone getting stuck on the Apple logo when charging and goes off to a black screen?

Stuck on apple logo when charging and goes off to black screen

I try to update my iphone 5 but need more space then the battery run out, when i connect the charger it stuck in apple logo then it turn off to black screen the come back again to apple logo on screen. I did try to connect to itunes to restore but it shows on error(21) cannot restore. So i bring it to apple store they try to restore but didn't work out they said something wrong with the software but they don't know and the offer a replacement that cost me $269.00 PLS HELP!!!!
