Why does my 5 keep saying "no sim"

Multiple times yesterday my iphone5 said no sim installed and my phone wasn't getting texts or any data. Apple care told me to toggle airplane mode and then restore. No help, it did it again after that.

Welcome to iMore! Did you restore from a back up? If so, you may have restored the problem. Try restoring as new.

No back up. I set up as a new phone. Today I popped the SIM card out and turned off the phone. I wiped the sim off and put it back in and turned the phone off. Any other suggestions?
