Can i sync my calendar and address book on my laptop with my iPhone 5s?

I have dozens of contacts on my laptop that I want to move to my iPhone. I also want to be able to sync my appointments and calendar entries directly from my computer. is this possible, and if so, how do i do it?

Yes. Create an iCloud account. If you have a Mac, then after you've created the iCloud account, go to System Preferences - iCloud and make sure that Calendar and Contacts are checked. Afterwards, they should sync to iCloud. On your iPhone, simply set it up with the same iCloud account. Everything will immediately sync over to it. If you have a Windows computer, I think you can do the exact same thing using the iCloud Control panel, but I can't say for certain because I've never used it.
