why can't I back my iPhone 5 to iCloud

hello i have just purchases 200gb of i cloud so i can store my photos when I'm traveling and on wifi. But I go to iCloud setting then back up it says its never been backed up before which is true so i click back up and it does the tiniest blue bar on the scale and says backing up with the loading symbol turning next to it, but doesn't how ever give me an estimated time remaining.. and stays like this for hours then when i check it at some point later its right back to the start again with no message even telling me what happened... hope you can help thanks

If you have everything enabled for backup the initial back up size will most likely be very large and take up to 5 hours depending on the strength of your Wifi signal. Try doing a backup overnight and make sure your device is plugged in. After your first backup the next one won't take as long
