Why is my Photo Library taking up so much memory?

I have gotten an iPad Air from school and the Photo Library section in the main storage is taking 8.2 GB of memory. I only have 5 pictures on my camera. A am trying to record videos for my YouTube channel and I can't and it's annoying. I was wondering what is wrong and how to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

That doesn't sound accurate. Where are you seeing that five photos are taking so much room?
Here is my photo library and it's got literally over s thousand photos.
