I have an iphone 5s won't update apps or operating system. Any suggestions to correct?

Since I updated the operating system to the latest version, the phone rings with a default ring even though it indicates my ringtone is selected, the apps show updates but won't update, the operating system can't search for updates and the battery seems to be dying at an accelerating rate. Do I have the default settings re-installed? I need some assistance here.

You can try any of the following.

1. Reboot your iPhone.
2. Go to Settings - General -Reset and then select "Reset All Settings".
3. Logout of the iTunes & App Store, and then log back in.
