How to regain wifi connection from iphone 5s

On my settings, my wifi is on and my only listed wifi has a blue check in front of it. The displaysays "Unable to get results. Please check your network connectioon." I use the same wifi connection on which I'm typing this note. Thanks.

Reset your device by holding your power & home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears. This usually corrects wifi issues.

I have noticed over the years, 4s, 5, 5c, and 5s, that wifi on these devices is very sporadic. I can be sitting right next to my Apple TV streaming Netflix, but my phones won't stream anything smoothly. PS3 and laptop work fine as well.

As much as I don't like or understand it, I just deal with it.
