Anyway to add Custom Alert Tone to Messages app in OS X Yosemite?

With sms forwarding now I get a lot more sms texts on my Mac and I would like to be able to take my custom Alert Tone that I use on my iPad and iPhone and add it to my Mac. However when I drop the .m4r audio file into my System/Library/Sounds folder I cannot see them as a drop down option in the Message app's preferences. I can select the new sounds as a System Alert Tone but I don't want that.

Any Ideas?

I am guessing that it’s not an option at this point. Hopefully, it will happen soon.
